Maggie is a fourth generation Buttian who loves spending her free time with family, friends and taking her dog for walks. Her favorite hobbies include: riding snowbikes and dirtbikes, fishing, hiking, playing rec-league volleyball, DIY house projects, gardening and reading. After graduating from Butte High School, Maggie attended Montana Tech and completed her general studies. Not quite set on what she wanted her major to be, she leaned into advice from her parents who suggested, based on her interests and a childhood spent earning money mowing lawns, that she look into a landscape program. She then enrolled in Landscape Design at Montana State University and was instantly hooked.
Since graduating from MSU, and driven by her passion for Landscape Architecture, Maggie has found every opportunity to continue to grow and learn in her field. Enjoying growing her own food, and exploring ethnobotany, She attended and enrolled in many permaculture courses and volunteered on a ten-acre vegetable seed production farm in order to learn more about home-scale food production. In 2017 she became a Certified Permaculture Designer. In 2023, she passed all of the LARE exams and applied for licensure, receiving her State of Montana Landscape Architect license in early 2024. In 2025 she received her EPA WaterSense Qualified Water Efficent Landscaper Certification (professional certification in irrigation system audits).
Maggie has over ten years of experience in landscape architecture that includes but is not limited to: high-end residential design, commercial, spec home and public sector designs in Montana, Wyoming, Washington, Minnesota and Idaho. She is well versed in HOA submittal processes, as well as new development application, permitting and submittal processes on a municipal level. She also has experience working in a design-build capacity and knows what it takes to get a project from paper to reality.
Maggie became passionate about native plants, ethnobotany and ecological landscapes shortly after grauating from MSU. From her time spent in permaculture courses, she became interested in Seed Stewardship. As her passion for native plants developed, she gravitated towards the principles of Seed Stewardship and decided to begin collecting native seed. Currently, she is growing the collected parent seed and expects the first harvest of sellable generation one seed in 2025.
